Clean energy, like solar and wind power, is also called “renewable energy”. That means that no matter how much of it we use there will always be more. The sun is going to shine again tomorrow and the wind is going to keep blowing. And while there may be more or less of both depending on the time of year and what the weather is like, there will always be a constant supply.
Fossil Fuel Cons
Our dependence on energy sources has grown tremendously over the past century. Automobiles, airplanes, and locomotives all use fuel to operate. Our homes, schools, and businesses use fuel to generate electricity. For the most part, we have been using fossil fuels to meet our needs. Burning coal and fracking for gas gives us the resources that we need to continue on with our lives, but at a great cost to the environment.
The pollution that fossil fuels cause is only part of the problem. Fossil fuels are also a limited resource. There is only so much on our planet and there are more of us every day. Eventually, our need for energy is going to surpass what those resources can provide. At that point, we will either have to adopt another form of energy or civilization as we know it grinds to a halt.
Solar and Wind Alternatives
The answer is in renewable resources. We never have to worry about running out of those. And the sun and wind do not give off any pollutants to poison our air or water. And every day we are working toward finding better and less expensive ways to harness them. Right now we are working toward a greener future as homes and businesses voluntarily convert to a clean energy one at a time. In the future, we expect to see entire cities existing on a grid that is powered by solar or wind.
