Solar energy is plentiful and free. We are surrounded by the power of the sun every minute of every day. It can provide us with all of the electricity that we’ll ever need and keep making more. But while the energy that the sun provides is free, solar panel technology allows us to use it. Solar panels collect the sun’s potential and convert it into electricity that we can use.
As you travel, you’re bound to see more and more homes with solar panels mounted to their roofs or erected on the lawn. There are people every day that are taking the plunge to become less dependent on the power company and be more self-sufficient. You might wonder if you should do it, as well. But are the savings that abundant? How often are you going to have to replace those panels?
Solar Panel Longevity
The quick answer to that question is that you can expect most brands of solar panels to last at least 25 years, which is the length of most warranties. This technology is built to last! There is no reason to think that your solar panels won’t last for decades. True, they probably won’t be putting out as much energy in forty years as they are today. But there have been instances of residential homes that have panels that are thirty years old and still produce enough energy to meet the household’s needs. The International Space Station has been depending on them for 20 years and there is no sign of stopping.
Warranty Maintenance
We know what you’re thinking. If it’s anything like your car’s warranty, then you’ll be required to do a bunch of maintenance or it won’t be honored. Nothing could be further from the truth! Solar panels are among the most durable technology that there is. They are designed to withstand rain, snow, heat, wind, and hail. They’re very resilient and there are no moving parts. As a matter of fact, the only thing that you should do is to hose them off a couple of times a year to keep them free of dirt and debris.
At Aurora Energy, we want to help you become energy self-sufficient. That wouldn’t be the case if we got you to invest in something that you’d have to replace frequently.
